Our Advocacy Programs
She Screams without Sound is an annual event that was established in 1988, when more than 20 Hamilton County women were killed by their intimate partners. Alarmed by the devastating number of victims, employees of Women Helping Women and the YWCA decided to do something to raise awareness in the community and in the Hamilton County court system.
Zontians support this annual vigil to draw awareness to violence against women. Check our calendar for more details.
Zonta International's ongoing advocacy impact is built around the advocacy campaign “Zonta Says NO to Violence Against Women.” Launched in 2012, the campaign has raised awareness of the global pandemic of women’s rights violations and has united Zonta clubs worldwide in conducting impactful advocacy actions to fight violence against women and gender inequality. Each November 16 days are set aside to build awareness and advocate to Just Say No to violence against women and girls. The Cincinnati Club supports the campaign by partnering with the local library and mayor's office to build awareness and engage the community about the important issue of violence against women.
"Zonta envisions a world where no woman lives in fear of violence. Through the Zonta Says NO to Violence Against Women campaign, our members and allies stand together, uniting our voices to advocate for all those who have suffered gender-based violence. Zonta is needed now, more than ever, to continue its work to end violence and build a better world for women and girls."
