Wine & Dine Around the World
September 24, 2011 - thanks for coming!
The Zonta Club of Cincinnati held their first annual Wine & Dine Around the World Scholarship Fundraiser on Saturday, September 24 at Cincinnati State Technical and Community College in their Midwest Culinary Institute's Overlook Cafe.
There was a very generous sell-out crowd who had a great time bidding on fabulous raffle baskets and unique silent auction items. The fundraiser generated nearly $17,000, with proceeds to benefit the Zonta Club of Cincinnati's Ann Rasche Scholarships for women over 25 attending Cincinnati State.
WCPO TV Channel 9 News Anchor Tanya O'Rourke was the event's emcee. Tanya's late mother, Mercedes Spiegel, was a member of the Zonta Club of Cincinnati. As a surprise to Tanya, Mercedes' Zonta membership badge was presented to her. Ann Rasche's family attended the event and was also surprised with the presentation of Ann's membership badge. Cincinnati State President Dr. O'dell Owens hosted a champagne toast. 2010 Ann Rasche Scholarship recipients Lachanna Jackson and Lora Simmons spoke eloquently about how their scholarships impacted their educational and future career plans.
Zonta Club of Cincinnati President and Event Co-Chair Glenda Carota said, "We had a fabulous turnout and the crowd was so generous. In fact, it was so successful that the second Wine & Dine Around the World Scholarship Fundraiser has already been scheduled for Saturday, September 22, 2012! We are extremely fortunate to have such excellent community sponsors and donors who contributed the great silent auction and raffle basket items, and hope that the Greater Cincinnati community will continue to support the Zonta Club of Cincinnati in our efforts to provide educational opportunities to women in the Tri-State area."
Wine & Dine Around the World was a premier feast of international foods prepared by JTM Food Group Corporate Chef Robert Lafond and Midwest Culinary Institute Chefs Kagy and Coltrane and their students Stacy Meyer, Beverage Manager from Heidelberg Distributors, paired the international wines perfectly with the food. Event sponsors included JTM Foods, Heidelberg Distributors, Dunn Insurance, The Women's Book, Ohio National Financial Services, and All American Event & Party Rental.
The Zonta Club of Cincinnati, through the Zonta Service Fund of Cincinnati, Inc.
