A bit on history

  • The Zonta Club of Cincinnati was organized on April 6, 1935 with Mary Crowley, the first president of Zonta, Amy Pace the first secretary. At the inaugural banquet, Lona Shepperd placed a stork on the celebratory cake citing  ‘Long may the Club live and progress.’
  • Zonta International is a worldwide service organization of executives in business and the professions working together to advance the legal, political, economic, education, health and professional status of women.
  • Founded in 1919 in Buffalo, New York, the headquarters is located in Chicago, Illinois. Zonta International has 1,249 clubs with 32,600 members in 68 countries.
  • Zonta International is divided into 30 districts around the world.
  • The Zonta Club of Cincinnati is located in District 5, comprised of 17 clubs in 3 states (Ohio, Kentucky, and West Virginia).

Philosophy of Zontians

Zontians give generously of their time, talent and financial resources to our local communities and international service project through ZI. All projects and programs meet our mission and goals of improving the legal, political, economic, health, educational and professional status of women locally and globally.


The Zonta Club of Cincinnati provides scholarships for young ladies advancing in the math and sciences, support domestic violence survivors and organizations and promote justice and universal respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms through human trafficking awareness, rescue and recovery efforts to name a few projects.
